What's Changing
All six of Peacock's plans — three monthly, three annual — are increasing. Here's the full breakdown, straight from Peacock's own pricing update:

The price increase involves a raise in the region of $1 to $3 a month depending on tier with the ad-free Premium Plus plan experiencing the steepest climb with $3 and $30 on its monthly and annual plans respectively. At the same time, Select, the cheapest and most limited tier (current and past seasons of NBC and Bravo shows and other library content, but no movies, sports, or Peacock originals), observed the smallest increase.
Who's Protected From the Increase
Through its price rise announcement, Peacock also claimed that its current annual subscribers plan would not affect annual subscribers or those with active promotional offers just yet, but will come into effect once their existing plans expire, while providing subscribers a chance to renew at the new, higher prices. Thus, if you picked an annual plan or joined a promotional deal before August 18, your pricing is bound to hold through the full length of your subscription without being affected by Peacock’s latest announcement.
Why Now: The Profitability Timing
It’s become increasingly difficult to evaluate the price rise as plainly coincidental or random. Comcast’s recent earnings report claimed Peacock posted its first profitable quarter in Q2 2026, while closing June with 48 million paid subscribers, a whopping 2 million gain from the previous quarter. And while that’s a substantial growth and increase for the Industry, it can be attributed to Peacock’s coverage of the NBA playoffs, the FIFA World Cup, and Love Island being the prime driving source of subscriptions.

Peacock, through its official announcement on its support page, framed the price rise as an attempt to remain competitive in the marketplace while creating the best experience for its viewers and delivering unique content across all genres. And while it may seem strange that the price rise is termed as justifying costs, the actual underlying cause is an attempt to make more money after having made money as reported in its first positive quarter.
It’s also important to note that Peacock isn’t making any significant reduction or addition to its offerings but combined the announcement with the launch of a new membership perks program while also having recently announced a partnership to bring Peacock’s Premium plan to YouTube Premium subscribers starting in early 2027 in attempt to invest in growth and retention while trying to control the impact of changing prices amongst subscribers.
Peacock's Price History
This is Peacock's fourth price increase in four years, and the pattern shows a service moving steadily toward pricing itself closer to, and in some cases above, its biggest competitors.

What to Do About It
A few practical options exist for subscribers weighing what to do next:
1. Lock in an annual plan before your next billing cycle : An easy tackle for the price rises often involves switching into an annual plan. Especially if you’re sure to continue and while it may not be significant, it’s bound to bring discounts as compared to the new higher monthly rates.
2. Reassess tier fit — If you're truly hooked by the platform and its content, it may also be wise to consider jumping from the Premium Plus to the normal Premium (ad-supported), while evaluating whether the $3/month jump changes the math against Premium's ad-supported tier at a lower cost.
3. Cancel if the value no longer works for your viewing habits — Peacock's help center outlines how to do this through the Subscriptions tab in your account settings.
FAQs
1. When exactly do the new Peacock prices start?
August 18, 2026 for new and returning subscribers. Existing subscribers see the increase on their next billing date on or after September 17, 2026.
2. Does the price rise also affect my annual plan right now?
Not immediately, the current rate will continue until your existing plans expire and the renewal of the subscription will be based on the new, higher price.
3. How much does the price raise change my subscription?
Increases range from $1 to $3 per month depending on tier: Select goes from $7.99 to $8.99, Premium from $10.99 to $12.99, and Premium Plus from $16.99 to $19.99. Annual plans increase by $10 to $30 depending on tier.
4. Is this Peacock's first price increase?
No — it's the fourth in four years, following increases in 2024 and 2025.
Conclusion
The streaming industry has built its own projective rhythm - grow your subscribers, make a profitable quarter, then raise prices around the board while citing investments in quality and maintenance of the content. For normal audiences with subscriptions purely for luxury or Peacock’s content, the price may seem modest, but when compared with the three previous increases, the cumulative rise in prices can be considered massive for the average user. And while you could argue whether Peacock’s catalogue is interesting enough for you to invest the amount, NBC and Bravo library content, sports, Peacock originals are sure to bring content that will keep you hooked, at least enough to re-evaluate before your next billing date arrives.
